National NYSC bans corps members from travelling without permission

Post by Mhizmoet » Thu Aug 09, 2018 1:11 pm

The management of the National Youth Service Corps has warned and banned corps members from travelling out of their place of primary assignment and orientation camps without permission from authorities.

The NYSC The Director-General, Brig-Gen. Zakari Kazaure, warned the youths on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, while addressing new corps members at Ekiti State Permanent Orientation Camp.

Kazaure reportedly said he was on a visit to educate corps members on dangers associated with playing with their health and security.

Advising the corps members in Ekiti, Kazaure asked the youth to join hands with him to avoid a repeat of the tragic incident in which nine corps members drowned in Taraba state.

He said, “You all have to avoid night journeys and other unnecessary journeys for that matter.

''Remember that before you embark on any journey, the need arises that you first inform your immediate supervisors and obtain necessary permits.

“A graduate is expected by the society to be above board. I, therefore, want you to please join hands with me to ensure that the tragic incident in Taraba is the very last of such.”

Kazaure expressed regret over the death of the nine corps members saying it is a huge loss to him personally and the nation in general.

The DG, therefore, gave the corps members his personal number, 07042542779 to call him in case of an emergency that they feel their immediate supervisors could not handle.
NYSC says allowance increase is a rumour

Meanwhile, the management of the National Youth Service Corps has reacted to the unconfirmed reports about corps members allowance increase.

On Monday, August 6, 2018, a twitter handle, APC Newspaper, which claims to be a social media mouthpiece for the ruling party, All Progressive Congress announced that President Muhammdu Buhari has raised NYSC allowance to N49,800.

Cliqnaija tweeted at NYSC to confirm the credibility of the APC Newspaper's tweet about the allowance increase and @officialnysc replied saying it is a rumour.
